The Metaloodle – Scrap Metal and Light Installation
February 24, 2006A 2006 creation.
This scrap metal and light installation christened The Metaloodle (metal doodle) was commisioned by Sushil Bhasin – Doodlewala.
Sushil’s brief to me was: “I need a creation that captures the essence of my love for ‘doodling’ but should be created in the medium you work with.”
This installation combines various scrap metal components, automobile parts, die scrap, household utensils and wood and cane components.
In the daytime, The Metaloodle looks like a lamp with metal doodles all over. When lit at night, it create different and interesting doodle-like patterns on the wall everytime its position is changed.
Total creation time: 3 months

January 31, 2006Picking Myself Up – Part II
December 7, 2005I had written about it a few weeks back on how I had this desparate urge to paint after 15 years after going through a not-too-encouraging experience in my childhood.
I finally did manage to put brush to canvas, the result of which can be seen below. For me, more important than what my paintings would look like was the journey of convincing myself (and proving to myself) that I could pick myself up from my failures and paint again. Ok! I can’t paint like Dali, but I can paint and I’ve proved it to myself. And, even if this painting sucks (which in my heart of hearts I know, it does) atleast I tried. And that’s important.
