You’re having a bad time with your boss and you’re scared to going up to him and confronting him. You need your dad to sponsor your next college trip but you’re scared to ask him. You know that, that pretty girl next door loves theatre and you… the nightmare on elm street doesn’t scare you as much as getting onto stage does.
So, you’re scared. You fear failure. You’re afraid that your boss, your dad or the pretty girl will not be able to understand you.
So, what do you? Let your boss bully you around? Forget the trip? And the pretty girl?
Or would you want to shake yourself out of your comfort zone and make life a little difficult for yourself?
You might be tongue-tied but how about making your life a little difficult and inviting your boss out for lunch? You might not be able to bear your dad’s sarcastic ones, but how about making life a little difficult for yourself and walking in straight into his cabin at work? You might be scared of making a fool of yourself, but how about making your life a little difficult by signing up for the same play that the pretty girl is in?
It’s strange, but you’ll be surprised at the creativity that will flow once you leave your comfort zone and make your life a wee bit difficult.
Just go ahead and do it. There’s absolutely no substitute for ‘trying’.
